Bespoke cantilever platforms

Custom cantilever access platforms

Lightweight, high-strength aluminium access platforms developed around overhang access, fixed equipment and real site constraints.

Our team was commissioned by a leading biotechnology company to design and manufacture bespoke cantilever access platforms in lightweight, high-strength aluminium.

The brief required a cantilevered rear section on the top platform to provide clear overhang access above fixed equipment, while maintaining excellent operator safety, structural rigidity, and ease of movement.

Bespoke cantilever aluminium access platform

Project brief

Overhang access A cantilevered rear section created clear access above fixed plant and equipment.

Engineering

Rigid and mobile The structure was designed for stability in use and easy wheeled positioning on site.

Workflow

Approved in CAD Detailed drawings were signed off before fabrication so the finished platform aligned with the brief.

Design & engineering approach

Safety and accessibility were central to the design. We specified durable non-slip tread plate to the main platform and 45° stair treads for confident footing in daily use.

During the concept and design phase, we developed a stable, rigid structure that could be wheeled into position with minimal effort. To reduce any risk of overtipping, ballast weights were integrated into the design, with careful consideration given to both performance and aesthetics.

Safe daily access

Non-slip tread plate to the main platform and 45 degree stair treads were specified for confident everyday footing.

Mobile positioning

The platform was engineered to be wheeled into position with minimal effort while maintaining structural confidence.

Integrated ballast

Ballast weights were worked into the design to reduce overtipping risk without compromising appearance.

From concept to usable platform

This platform was engineered around a real operating environment, balancing overhang reach, movement, confidence underfoot and practical deployment on site.

  • Lightweight, high-strength aluminium construction
  • Non-slip tread plate main platform
  • 45 degree stair access for confident footing
  • Integrated ballast to reduce overtipping risk

From CAD to manufacture

Using advanced CAD software, we produced detailed engineering drawings for client review and approval before fabrication began. This ensured full technical clarity and alignment before manufacturing.

1

Define the access challenge

The brief called for a cantilevered rear section on the top platform so operators could work clearly above fixed equipment.

2

Develop the CAD design

Detailed engineering drawings were created for client review and approval, giving complete technical clarity before manufacture.

3

Manufacture the platform

Once approved, the lightweight high-strength aluminium platform was fabricated to deliver rigidity, movement and operator safety.

Project outcome

This project delivered a practical, innovative access solution and established a platform concept that can be adapted for future bespoke cantilever work platforms.

At CHASE Ladders, we provide comprehensive design and manufacturing services for specialist access equipment, working closely with each client to meet exact operational and safety requirements.
